IM Clients
All of these clients support AIM, MSN, and Yahoo IM. Although third party clients can be spotty on features like file transfers or voice chat, they can't be beat for convenience when you have to use more than one IM service.
Mail Client
A mail client can interact with mail services with POP like GMail. Thunderbird is free multi-platform mail client for download and use.
